I have had several compliments on my homemade products. What is starting put as a hobby with passion is helping many friends. I share with you part of an email I received on my lotion bars. It made my day.
“Lorraine, this stuff is fantastic. I gave a bar to my mother when I saw the eczema all over her legs (on a Fri. ). 2 days later her legs were almost healed and now 4 days later she tells me the eczema is all cleared up.”
If I can help those in need get some relief, then it’s worth the time and effort I’ve put into my homemade products:). Compliments mean everything to me.
I made a batch of “Baby Butt Butter” this morning. I wanted to make something simple using natural products, so I used Beeswax, Coconut Oil, Emu Oil, Vitamin E, and Zinc Oxide Powder. I am giving it to a friend to try and will update results. I can only imagine that it will be 2amaysing! We will test it on a little one who struggles with some diaper rash. I can’t think of anything worse than the over-the-counter stuff that I used to hate using when my girls were babies, besides the fact that it smelled horrible. I guess the name of it describes it pretty well! Let’s give it a test!

If I was perfect, I don’t think I would be a great mom. I have 2 daughters and I feel I can pass along a lot of good information by learning from my own mistakes. I did the best I could do given the circumstances I had. And the end result is 2amaysing daughters. Not only do I have 2amaysing daughters, I gained an “amaysing” son-in-law as well.
I didn’t always make them breakfast, I taught them how to make it for themselves. When they didn’t take care of the laundry I did, I taught them how to do it themselves. When they tried to fight, I intervened and let them know that hate is a powerful word and should never be used. When they mouthed off, I introduced them to the taste of soap on their tongue.
As for me, I worked out of necessity and not neccesarily by choice. I worked from home while they were little as I couldn’t stand the thought of someone else raising my kids. When they were in grade school, I worked at the school. I wasn’t always there to give them a ride home when they needed it. They sometimes had to wait, but I hope it showed them my committment to balance both worlds so I could afford sports and activities that would make them grow in different ways.
Getting flowers on Mother’s Day and having them cook a delightful breakfast was perfect. I know they can survive on their own, I know they can get to the next level with work and dedication. I know they know that the world is not perfect; it’s hard and cruel at times, but perseverance and faith can get you through it. I know they realize that they are placed in different situations in life and you have to make the best of it at times to move ahead to the next stage.
I know I did okay. Not just okay, but I did a great job.
Today I made up a batch of Lavender Patchouli Lotion bars. Patchouli has such great properties. Combine them with Lavender properties and you have one amazing product. Some of the properties of Patchouli include:
Anti Depressant, Anti Phlogistic (helps with inflammation), Anti Septic, Aphrodisiac, Astringent, Cicatrisant (helps to heal wounds and scars), Cytophylactic (helps generate new cell growth), Deodorant, Diuretic, Febrifuge (helps reduce body temperature/fevers), Fungicide, Insecticide, Sedative, Tonic and helpful for eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis and sores.
I admit. I am obsessed with all the products I’ve been making. I can’t stop telling people about them, I can’t stop making them, I can’t stop using them – and they are pure, natural and beneficial.
I recently decided to make mini lotion bars that are great to carry in your purse. They are so cute! Im definitely looking forward to the lighter load when carrying samples around with me. It’s easy to pour up a few minis along with the large size bars. I made some lemon coconut lotion bars and they turned out 2amaysing! Patchouli is next on my list. The problem is that I want to use them all!
Being a hairdresser and always using top of the line products, I shied away from health store shampoos. After all, I was a professional and I did like the products I chose to use. After using organic products on my skin, I chose to try shampoo and conditioner just to see what the difference was. I’m sure there are some that are made better than others, so I looked for ingredients I wanted in the product. I came across Alaffia brand. I was intrigued by the black soap, shea, honey and warm oils like clove, ginger and nutmeg. I found I have to use more because it doesn’t lather quite as much, but I absolutely love the results on my hair! My husband finds the shampoo to work great for him as well (which is a miracle in itself!).
